Workshop with Ted Stoffer on contemporary dance

The workshop is open to all levels to those involved in the performing arts. Inspired by the latest collaboration with theater director Luk Perceval at the Frankfurt Schauspiel, choreographer Ted Stoffer proposes a research into rituals for the most encompassing of emotions - love. Participants will have a quick introduction to the concept of Ma, the power of perseverance and to five principles of movement. Afterwards they will be asked to work in various couples to develop a language which will then be subjected to various parameters. The workshop cultivates a non-judgmental, sensory receptive mind frame that is simultaneously subjective and objective.

Ted Stoffer

Ted Stoffer (1970 USA/BE) ist ein Brüsseler Choreograph, Lehrer und Performer. Er choreographierte für les balletts C de la B, Norrdans, Ballet Roto und Aphasia Dance Company, die er 1997 gründete. Seine Produktion Aphasiadisiac wurde für Kritikerpreise in Belgien nominiert und ist Mitempfänger des Argos-Kritikerpreises des Brighton Festivals. Seine Werke tourten in Belgien, Holland, Deutschland, England, Frankreich, Griechenland, Italien, Japan und wurden im Indianapolis Museum of Art, USA, präsentiert. Sein Lehrvideo MENINX wurde vom BBC & Arts Council of England auf der ganzen Welt verwendet. Seit 17 Jahren unterrichtet Ted Stoffer unter anderem für Ultima Vez, Rosas, Charleroi Danses, Need Company, DV8, Sasha Waltz, Ballett Marseille, Carte Blanche u. a. sowie für internationale Firmen und Festivals wie Impuls Tanz, Kalamata Festival, ReAction International Artist Austausch, Hot Summer Kyoto International Festival, Tanz Istanbul, B12, TanzFabrik, Sommer Intensiv etc. Er ist auch ein regelmässiger Lehrer an führenden Schauspielschulen in Deutschland und arbeitet regelmässig mit dem preisgekrönten Regisseur Luk Percival zusammen. Er ist mit der Sängerin Sayaka Kaiwa verheiratet. Zusammen haben sie einen Sohn und eine Tochter.



Ted Stoffer (1970, USA / BE) is a Brussels choreographer, teacher and performer. He has choreographed for Les Ballets C de la B, Norrdans, Ballet Roto and the Aphasia Dance Company, which he founded in 1997. His production ‘Aphasiadisiac’ was nominated for Critics’ Awards in Belgium and is co-recipient of the Argos Critics’ Award at the Brighton Festival. His work toured Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, France, Greece, Italy and Japan and was presented at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, USA. His instructional video MENINX has been used by the BBC & the Arts Council England and around the world. For 17 years he has taught for Ultima Vez, Rosas, Charleroi Danses, Needcompany, DV8, Sasha Waltz, Ballet Marseille, Carte Blanche and other international companies, as well as at festivals like Impuls Dance, Kalamata Festival, ReAction International Artist Exchange, Hot Summer Kyoto International Festival, Istanbul Dance, B12, TanzFabrik, Summer Intensive, etc. He is also a regular teacher at leading drama schools in Germany and regularly works with award-winning director Luk Perceval. He is married to singer Sayaka Kaiwa. They have a son and a daughter.
